Since leaf spring products are not final products but components belonging to other products, they are highly dependent on the main engine manufacturers. In the past, the main engine manufacturers were basically responsible for the design of leaf springs, and leaf spring companies processed according to the drawings. However, now some main engine manufacturers require component manufacturers to participate in the design and development of products together, but overall, the speed of new product development is relatively slow, lacking systematic management and theoretical support.
 
The development of new products and new processes in China is very lagging, such as air suspension springs; in terms of production equipment, foreign countries have generally adopted automatic online detection methods, visualization of detection result data, automatic statistical analysis, automatic feedback adjustment functions, and pressure automatic sorting control methods; 100% automatic detection is implemented for the dimensions of leaf springs, such as height, outer diameter, number of turns, load, and flaw detection, which not only improves production efficiency, reduces scrap and rework rates, but also ensures the reliability and stability of product quality. Currently, domestic air suspension spring products are still in the experimental stage.
